A collaboration agreement was signed by Egis and the Uzbek Medicines Authority in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. 
The main objective of both parties is to make high quality medicines more accessible for Uzbek patients, therefore – under the agreement - Egis will provide help to improve pharmaceutical regulations in Uzbekistan as well as support the professional development of the authority’s staff. Frequent exchange of information and experiences between the two parties is an important instrument of the collaboration, it will be paid special attention in the future, according to the agreement.
“Our collaboration helps Uzbek patients have access to high quality and safe medicines at affordable prices, thanks to Egis products”– emphasized Csaba Poroszlai, CEO of Egis at the time of signing the agreement.
Regular consultation and exchange of experiences are key steps for the development of the Uzbek pharma market, which has faced quality issues in recent years. 

The annual turnover of the Uzbek pharmaceutical market is about USD 1.6 billion, over the past 4-5 years, it has consistently experienced double-digit growth. In the long term, Egis expects a similar trend, since the country's population is growing (after this year’s figure of 35.2 million, the population is expected to reach 40 million people by 2030) and its economy expanding (the projected GDP growth of 5.5 percent this year may be followed by a growth of similar pace in the coming years). 
“Besides, a positive factor is the Uzbek state's commitment to improving pharmaceutical regulations and access to medicines and Egis is ready to cooperate with the country on this subject" - said Csaba Poroszlai. 

On behalf of Egis, CEO Csaba Poroszlai, Commercial Operations Director Tamás Uri, General Manager of the Uzbek subsidiary of Egis Khakim Umarov and Miklós Konkoly, Head of Egis' Far East Region while on behalf of the Uzbek Medicines Authorities Agzam Nartaev, Director of the State Center participated in the meeting. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary was represented by János Vanyik, Foreign Trade Attaché.
