We have been cooperating with BME’s Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology for decades. Lately, we launched a new project collaborating with the experts of the Department of Building Service Engineering and Process Engineering from BME’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The goal of our collaboration was to use pharmaceutical ingredients more efficiently during the manufacturing process. The experts of the acclaimed Hungarian university compared the possible modes of operation and technological methods. The experiments were conducted at the department’s distillation column where it is possible to manufacture high purity substances. Based on the results, the experts made proposals with regards to the distillation column’s dimensions, inner structure and material, as well as to the controlling of the equipment. Throughout this process, energy efficiency is crucial – BME’s experts offered a lot of help by exploring the possible ways of recuperation, then gave details about the type and dimensions of heat exchangers.

At the plant that was built according to these plans, the substances coming from the process of pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing go through a distillation column. The cleaned substances can be reused which can reduce the environmental impact. With the help of BME, the projects was successfully finished, and the technology operates with full capacity. As a result of our fruitful cooperation, our process of pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing became more efficient and showed significant improvements from the point of view of environmental protection as well.
